Spider Mites

Plant Damage / Signs:
  • Leaf yellowing or loss of color (bronzing)
  • Foliage takes on dirty appearance
  • Stippling (small yellow areas) on foliage
  • Early leaf drop may occur


  • Insect / Signs:
  • Webs may be noticeable
  • To check for mites, hold a white piece of
        paper under a branch, tap branch over
        the paper, if present, mites can be seen on
        paper


  • Related Problems:
  • Eriophyid Mites - another group of mites that
        feed on developing leaves, shoot, flowers or
        fruits; resulting in stunting, twisting, russeting,
        bronzing and yellowing
