Circular patches (1/2 -2 ft. in diameter) of light brown turf
On close-cut turf, patches may have a dark border
(smoke ring)
On higher-cut turf, patch borders may be yellowish-green
in color
Light brown lesions with dark borders occur on leaf blades
Areas beyond leaf lesions may be dark in color
(water soaked)
Dark fungal growth often occurs at base of plant

Time of Occurence: |
Late spring and summer
|
Conditions that Favor Disease: |
Temperatures 75º - 85º F
Moist conditions (heavy dews, rain or improper irrigation
that keep turf wet for prolonged periods)
During summer months, problem may occur in the shade
or other areas that remain wet
