Begins as dark circular patchest that appear
drought-stressed
Later, patches turn light straw color
Shapes of patches may be streaks, crescents or circles
Shapes of patches may form "frog eyes" (brown areas
with green turf in center)
Crowns usually die

Kentucky buegrass, bentgrass, fine fescue, ryegrass and
tall fescue

Causal Agent(s): |
Fungi: Fusarium roseum & Fusarium tricinctum

Time of Occurence: |
Summer to late summer
|
Conditions that Favor Disease: |
Daytime temperatures of 80º - 95º F and night
temperatures above 70º
Humid conditions
Stressed turfgrass ( especially drought-stressed)
Heavy thatch accumulation

near paved surfaces, slopes and exposed sites
