Lawn Tips
WATERING
Generally your lawn will look its best with an inch of water a week. Placing a pie plate in the lawn while irrigating will help you determine how much water will be needed by measuring the depth in plate with the time it took to reach that depth.
Water your lawn during periods of drought.
Water in the early morning.
Avoid watering in the heat of the day or when it is windy.
Water to a Level of ½ an inch to 1 inch.
MOWING
Keep mower blade sharp, avoid removing more than a third of the plant at any mowing, maintain proper mowing height for your type of turf. Cut Fescue at 4"-4 ½" and most warm season turf at 1".
Sharpen your mower blade regularly.
Don't mow when it's wet.
Avoid removing more than 1/3 of the foliage at each cutting.
If cut properly, the lawn clippings will sift down to provide added nutrients.
Be careful not to mow your lawn too short or too infrequently, about once a week should be sufficient.
