A SHORT NOTE ON THE LATE FALL APPLICATION
FROM HAMMERSTONE TO OUR VALUED CUSTOMERS

Today, we have applied the Late Fall application of fertilizer to your lawn. This application is a homogeneous product, which means that each individual fertilizer pellet contains the same analysis. This insures that we have a uniform greening up of our customer's lawns. This application will not harm newly seeded or sodded lawns, nor is it toxic to humans or pets.

During periods of dryness, moisture levels in the soil may vary in different areas of your lawn, which may lead to uneven greening growth of the grass after the fertilizer is applied. If you feel that this spottiness is a problem in your lawn, a thorough watering or soaking rain will correct the problem.

What about seeding? Due to the stressful year we have been experiencing and poor soil conditions of this area, it is likely that your entire lawn or part of your lawn may need to be reseeded. We will continue to seed lawns until the first week of December. It will take longer for the seed to germinate once the soil temperature drops below 70 degrees. So, you should call and schedule any seeding to be done immediately! We offer the best guarantee around, 90% germination or we'll come back and reseed at no charge! Remember, seeding in the late fall is better than waiting until the spring. Grass seeded in the spring doesn't have a long enough growing season to establish a very vigorous root system, before the hot dry weather arrives. We guarantee our service, please guarantee us payment.

Remember, keep your mowing height at three to four inches or higher. A lower mowing height may be detrimental to the health of your lawn. Also, remember to keep the leaves off the lawn once they begin to fall. Grass will die if leaves are allowed to stay on the lawn for more than four or five days.

If moles are a problem in the lawn, you may need an insecticide application. This is due to the white grub population in the lawn. If this is the case, please give us a call and schedule an insecticide application. The cost is the same as your regular application charge. Remember, the grubs eat the feeder roots off of the grass, placing the grass plant in a stressful situation. Without feeder roots, grass plants will die or show signs of severe stress. The plants are unable to absorb essential nutrients from the soil, such as water and fertilizer!

We will be starting the Winter Application the first week in December and continuing it through late January. As in the past three years, we will continue to apply the pre and post emergent broadleaf weed control application to our customers lawns. The cost of this application will be 1.3 times your regular application charge. Remember, we are the only lawn care company in this area offering our customers an application of Gallery, the only broad spectrum pre-emergent herbicide for broadleaf weeds.

Please, call us if you have any questions or concerns about your lawn. Our office hours are Monday thru Friday, 8am - 4pm. Carla Pace, our office manager, will be happy to answer any questions or address any concerns you may have.
